Does a female dogs character change dramatically before it comes into season?

My dog is almost 7mths and has become very quiet and almost as if she is feeling sorry for herself. we went for a walk this morning and met a friend who has a male dog, she seemed fine when we were out but has not moved from her bed since. She is also off her food and water.
