How to make a solo modern dance?

I want to audition for a modern solo dance, but I'm kind of stuck...I know what song I want to use ("Liar" by Emilie Autumn), but I've never tried to choreograph this type of dance before and I'm not quite sure what exactly makes a modern dance "good." So I guess my question is, what makes a modern dance "good?" And do you have any suggestions for what I can do?
